Migrate from Phorest

Move from Phorest to PeakSpitz, safely.

Moving off Phorest should feel like restoring from a backup, not a leap of faith. Your booking & salon tool data is read into a PeakSpitz environment of your own, checked against your real numbers, and run in parallel — while Phorest keeps running, untouched, the whole time. Here is exactly how, step by step.

Phorest is built around keeping clients coming back — its TreatCard loyalty programme, review and reputation tools, and targeted SMS and email campaigns are genuinely strong at reactivation and retention, which is why many salon groups lean on it. That marketing depth is the thing to credit. Teams outgrow it when they want one system for the whole business rather than a salon front-of-house plus separate accounting, VAT and storefront tools — and when consumable SMS credits and per-branch pricing add up. PeakSpitz unifies sales, inventory, real accounting with VAT and a storefront under one plan with unlimited users.

The safe way to leave Phorest

Work down the list at your own pace. Nothing here is irreversible, and your current system stays live throughout.

  1. 1

Before you touch anything — get a backup you own

Get a copy of your data out of Phorest that you control — a file held on your side, not just a setting inside the system. Confirm in your contract that you have the right to export, and note any renewal, notice or lock-in dates so the timing stays on your terms.

  2. 2

    Export your data

Pull clients, appointments, services and stock out of Phorest in the most complete format it offers — CSV, spreadsheet, or an account/API export. Take the history too, not just open items: past records, documents and contacts are worth keeping.

  3. 3

    Send us a sample

Before you commit, send us a representative slice — a handful of customers, a few recent orders or bookings, part of your catalogue. We map it into PeakSpitz and show you the restored result, so you see exactly how your booking & salon tool data lands before you move the rest.

  4. 4

    See what maps to what

We line Phorest up against PeakSpitz: clients, appointments, services and stock become customers, catalogue, orders, documents and ledgers in one joined-up system. Anything without an obvious home is flagged early, not discovered late.

  5. 5

    Bring it in — a read-only restore

Your data is read into a fresh, isolated PeakSpitz environment of your own. Nothing inside Phorest is touched, changed or switched off — it keeps running exactly as it is.

  6. 6

    Verify against your numbers

Before you trust it, reconcile the totals — balances, counts, tax and revenue — against what Phorest shows today. The numbers have to match before anything goes live.

  7. 7

    Run both in parallel

Keep Phorest live and run PeakSpitz alongside it for as long as you like. Compare like for like, move one area across first, and build trust before you depend on it. No big-bang cutover, and no deadline from us.

  8. 8

Cross over and decommission — on your terms

Switch over only when PeakSpitz has earned it. Keep your Phorest export archived as a safety net, and close the old subscription when you are ready — not a moment before.

What to watch when leaving Phorest

  • Phorest's real value is its marketing engine — campaign history, TreatCard behaviour and Reputation Manager reviews. Much of that is analytics tied to Phorest and won't move as data; export what you can as a reference and treat the campaign history as an archive rather than a migration.

  • TreatCard point balances are a cutover decision, not an automatic import. Decide a conversion — points to account credit at a set rate, or a clean restart — and communicate it to clients before go-live so nobody feels short-changed.

  • Cards saved for recurring memberships stay with the payment layer and do not transfer. Every member re-authorises the recurring charge on PeakSpitz, so schedule the switch just before a billing date and confirm each renewal took.

  • Appointment reminders, no-show flags and deposit history are useful operationally but rarely export cleanly, and SMS credits don't carry over. Keep the Phorest account read-only for a season as your historical record.

Common questions about leaving Phorest

Phorest's marketing keeps our chairs full — what replaces it?

It's a fair concern; retention marketing is Phorest's strongest suit. PeakSpitz brings your full client and visit history across so the data to reactivate is there, and Spitz can draft and send client outreach the moment you approve it. It's a different model — approval-based rather than a dedicated campaign studio — so weigh which client-comms you can't do without.

What happens to TreatCard points?

That's a cutover decision you make deliberately. The common path is converting balances to account credit at a fixed rate so loyal clients keep their value; some salons use the switch to launch a simpler scheme. Either way, tell clients the rule before go-live.

We run several branches — will that work on PeakSpitz?

Salon groups are exactly where Phorest is strong, so plan this carefully. PeakSpitz is one platform with unlimited users and a single accounting view; how your specific multi-site structure is best modelled is worth confirming during onboarding rather than assuming. The client, staff and stock data itself comes across per site.
